Bhakthi Sudha Mandali invites children to offer their voice in devotion — a sloka recitation competition held in reverence of our Gurus, this Guru Purnima.
About the event
Why we gather this Guru Purnima
Bhakthi Sudha Mandali is organising this sloka competition as a heartfelt offering to our Gurus — a chance for our children to learn, recite, and carry forward the wisdom of sacred verses.
Guru Purnima marks the day we honour our teachers — those who light the path of knowledge and devotion. In that spirit, Bhakthi Sudha Mandali brings together children from our community to learn and recite slokas, building a lifelong connection with our spiritual heritage.
Every child who steps forward to participate is, in their own way, honouring this tradition — and every child who takes part will be celebrated for their effort, not only for their result.
We warmly welcome all children in our community, regardless of prior experience with sloka recitation, to take part in this joyful celebration.

Guidelines
Competition rules
A few simple guidelines to keep things fair, fun, and meaningful for every child.
Every participant must be registered through the Google Form before the deadline — July 10th, 2026.
Each participant gets a single recitation turn on the day of the competition.

Slokas for each age group
Please find the sloka list by age group below. For 3 to 5 years, children may recite any 2 slokas from the list. For 6 to 10 years and 11 to 14 years, children may recite any 1 sloka from the list.
How recitations are judged
Evaluation parameters
Judges will assess each child warmly and constructively, using the following parameters as a guide.
Pronunciation
25%Clarity and accuracy of Sanskrit pronunciation, including correct svaras/accents where applicable.
Memorization
25%Reciting smoothly from memory, without long pauses or prompting.
Clarity
20%Audible, clear delivery — neither rushed nor too soft to follow.
Rhythm
15%Maintaining the natural rhythm (chandas) and tone of the sloka throughout.
Devotional expression
15%Composure, sincerity, and devotional feeling while reciting in front of the audience.
For practice at home
Practice audio for all slokas
To help every child practise correct pronunciation and rhythm, Bhakthi Sudha Mandali will post audio recordings of all the slokas listed above — for every age group.
Listen and repeat. Audio recordings of each sloka (across all three age groups) will be posted in the Mandali's WhatsApp group to guide children in learning correct pronunciation and rhythm.
Practise at your own pace. Children can listen as many times as needed in the days leading up to the competition, alongside parents or on their own.

Every child who participates is celebrated — because showing up with devotion is itself an achievement.
For every participant
All children who take part in the competition will receive a certificate of participation along with a small gift, regardless of the outcome.
Special prize
Children who recite exceptionally well in each age group will be awarded a special prize, as decided by the judges based on the evaluation parameters.
